Newly Engaged? Relax, You've Got This! A Stress-Free Guide to Wedding Planning

Congratulations you two!

So, you just said 'yes' and now you're wondering, "What now?" First of all, take a deep breath - you've just embarked on an incredible journey, and I'm here to guide you through the wonderful world of wedding planning. No stress, just excitement! Here are some friendly tips to help you kick off your planning adventures without feeling overwhelmed.

Celebrate the Moment:

Before diving into the details, bask in the glow of your recent engagement. Share the news with friends and family, and revel in the joy of this special time in your lives. The planning will come, but for now, enjoy the love and well-wishes. Why not organise a small celebration with both of your families.

Create a Vision Together:

Sit down with your other-half and talk about your dream wedding. What vibe are you going for? Intimate and cozy, or big and lively? Collect inspiration from magazines, Pinterest, or wherever your heart takes you. This is your day, so let your personalities shine. I personally created a private whatsapp group for me and my fiance. Here we sent links to things we had seen for ideas for our day. It meant that this wouldn’t get lost in our everyday chat.

Set Your Non-Negotiables:

It is a good idea to clearly list out your non-negotiables for your day, but remember to be mindful and respectful of each other’s decisions. Will you be having children at the wedding? Do you want a first dance? What kind of ceremony will you be having? Can you meet in the middle on any of these decisions?

Draft a Guest List:

Think about who you want to share this special day with. The guest list can impact your choice of venue and overall budget. Once you have a rough idea, you'll be better equipped to move forward with other decisions as suppliers will want to know your rough numbers, including your venue.

Explore Wedding Suppliers:

Now comes the fun part - finding the dream team to make your day magical. Look for suppliers whose style aligns with your vision. Do some research, read reviews, and don't hesitate to reach out with questions. This is your chance to assemble a dream team that understands your unique love story. A great tip is to look on your venues tagged photos. These are photos from real couples who got married there, using suppliers that know the venue and may be recommended.

Visit wedding fairs with your family or bridal party. Don’t feel like you need to make a decision right away with suppliers, take your time.

Top Tip!

Create a wedding email address so you can give this to suppliers and, eventually your RSVPs.

No one wants to spend ages writing up an email address you had when MSN was a thing!

Embrace DIY, but Don't Overdo it:

If you're a hands-on couple, DIY projects can add a personal touch to your day. Just be mindful not to overload yourself with too many tasks. Choose a few meaningful projects that will make a big impact and enjoy the creative process.

Stay True to Yourselves:

Amidst the Pinterest boards and wedding trends, remember that this day is about the two of you. Stay true to your values, and love story. Don't feel pressured to conform - your wedding should be an authentic reflection of who you are as a couple. If you would much rather elope than be the centre of attention, do that.

Consider a Wedding Planner:

If the idea of juggling all the details feels a bit daunting, consider enlisting the help of a wedding planner. They're like magical wizards and witches in the world of weddings, and they'll ensure everything runs smoothly while you focus on enjoying the journey.

Remember, there's no rush, and there's certainly no need to stress. Your wedding is a celebration of your love, so enjoy the process of bringing your dream day to life. And hey, if you ever need a friendly helping hand with suggestions, we're here for you every step of the way!
